WELL.DONE Distributed Temperature Monitoring

The WELL.DONE product line represents the best of both worlds – a robust and resistant design, but also a temperature resolution better than 0.08°C and very fast measurements. The DTS technology in WELL.DONE provides a complete profile to optimize and improve Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) well management. Data with high accuracy and excellent resolution allow temperature monitoring at the top of the horizontal well in addition to temperature along the entire wellbore with high spatial resolution.

The WELL.DONE system is the most reliable DTS on the market used for temperature sensing and logging applications in complex and simple wells. The fiber optic downhole sensor cable allows measurements at high temperatures and in combination with the WELL.DONE single mode fiber, the system is even insensitive to hydrogen based darkening effects.

Using only one single optical fiber, our DTS system covers thousands of measuring points along the sensor cable making the DTS technology far more efficient in installation and maintenance cost compared to other sensor technologies.  Furthermore, the fiber can withstand very high temperatures and can be used for a very large variety of applications where extreme heat is a challenge.

As fluids are withdrawn or injected, the temperature profile of a well changes depending on formation and production time and rate. WELL.DONE monitors and detects such disturbances in the thermal equilibrium.

The system uses a fiber optic cable as the downhole sensor. Various different cable designs and fiber types are available to use the WELL.DONE DTS in almost all kind of downhole applications including those with high hydrogen concentration and high temperatures up to 450°C.

Luna provides the appropriate multimode and single mode cable. Our special single mode high temperature fiber has the advantage that it is unaffected by hydrogen usually causing the darkening of the fiber. The coatings of the optical fiber and the extrusion can be tailored to optimally suit the required resistance to temperature conditions and mechanical impacts.
