The latest fire detection technology has been added to the Eisenhower Tunnel in the course of its recent refurbishment process. The dual-bore car tunnel, completed in 1979, is situated approximately 97 km west of Denver, Colorado, Unites States of America.
DE.TECT, the fiberoptic linear heat detection system has been installed for optimum fire detection of this four-lane vehicle tunnel. The Colorado Department of Transportation retrofitted the tunnel with a fire suppression system designed to limit the fire size of a vehicle fire to a maximum of 20 MW.
LIOS Technology’s accurate fire detection over the entire length of the tunnel, flexible setting of alarm parameters and zones as well as the prevention of false alarms convinced the customer to select DE.TECT over point-type detection, copper tube systems.
LIOS DE.TECT is smoothly linked to the CCTV and to the water suppression system of the Eisenhower–Edwin C. Johnson Memorial Tunnel which was proved by comprehensive testing of the zoning and detection sensitivity.
